"I don’t think that being a feminist has anything to do with hating anything. It’s about celebrating women and being productive for females. I’m not one for seeing amazing, intelligent women being reduced to sex symbols."
Sara Bareilles

This is what I get for coming home late

I came home to this on my door and my room heart attacked and meme attacked by my little brother and sister.

They're the best.

The Bob-Cats were a Dixieland jazz group with members from the Bob Crosby Orchestra. Both the Bob Crosby Orchestra and the smaller Bob-Cats group specialized in Dixieland jazz, presaging the traditional jazz revival of the 1940s.

What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.
-Carl Sagan

Now the TV's on at 3am and you're sleeping on the couch, because you can.
Now the plate is where you left it, no one else is going to move it for you.
Now the politics of blankets are gone.
Now the people on the radio sound so far away.
Now you've got no plans when you wake up, just keep on keeping on.
Now the morning fades to light, to twilight, to night.
Now you rinse and repeat.
Now you remove the sleeve and remove the film.
Now you remove the sleeve and pierce the film several times.
Now dinner takes exactly 2:30 minutes.
Now the earth hurtles through the universe around a giant ball of fire.
Now none of your acquaintances know they're really your only friends.
Now none of your friends know they're just acquaintances.
Now you've got to get used to being alone, like when you're born, like when you die.
Now you're free.
Now you can do whatever you want.
You just have to do it alone.

I was up, but now I'm down.
I'm stuck in a twisted rut.
I have my inspiration. I have my motivation.
I think I just need some reassurance.
I don't know right now.

Ada Lovelace lived in the 19th century in London. She is known to be the first female programmer, as her notes to Babbage’s analytical engine contain what is considered the first computer program, making her a symbol for women in technology.
